Australia's trade minister will lead the country's first business delegation to visit Iran in 14 years after sanctions over Tehran's nuclear program were eased.
Two-way trade between Australia and Iran fluctuated between 350 and 600 million Australian dollars a year while Australian sanctions were in place.
Five states, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Chattisgarh, signed 86 MoUs worth close to Rs. 15,000 crore during the Incredible India Investors’ Summit.
Gujarat leads the tally with signed pacts worth nearly Rs. 9,000 crore, followed by Karnataka Rs. 2,600 crore, Rajasthan Rs. 1,000 crore, Uttarakhand Rs. 500 crore and Chhattisgarh Rs. 12 crore.
The summit was organised by the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with industry body CII and the Tourism Finance Corporation of India.
Former Minister K. J. George will be re-inducted into the state cabinet after the Karnataka CID gave him a clean chit in the case related to the alleged suicide of DySP M. K. Ganapathy.
George, who was the Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town planning, had resigned in July.
According to sources, George who is considered to be a close confidant of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is likely to retain Bengaluru Development and Town Planning portfolio.
