Russia Not to Break Relations with Ukraine

  • As per Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow has no intention of cutting relations with Kiev.
  • Putin appointed former Education Minister Dmitry Livanov as his special representative for the development of commercial, economic and scientific relations with Ukraine.
  • Russia currently has no ambassador in Kiev after Putin relieved Mikhail Zurabov of his duties in July.

Villgro Invests in GRoboMac

  • Social incubator Villgro has invested an undisclosed sum in GRoboMac (Green Robot Machinery Private Limited), a startup that develops farm robotics for harvesting farm produce.
  • Started in 2014, GRoboMac is working to mechanise farm tasks by building smart machinery using 3D vision technology and robotics.

P. V. Sindhu Creates History

  • P. V. Sindhu has won India's second medal of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Sindhu, tenth in the global rankings, lost to Spain's Carolina Marin, ranked No 1.
  • Sindhu thus became the fourth Indian to win a silver at the Olympics after shooters Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Vijay Kumar and wrestler Sushil Kumar.
  • She also became the fifth woman player from India to win a medal in Olympics history and the first to clinch a silver. She is also is the youngest Indian to win a medal at the Olympics.

The Most Popular Leader

  • As per a survey, the ‘Mood of the Nation’ poll conducted by India Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to be the most popular among the voters.
  • 50 per cent of the respondents favoured PM Modi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi lagged far behind with 13 per cent vote, followed by Sonia Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal.
  • The popularity survey was carried out across 97 parliamentary constituencies in 19 states.
