Pakistan Closes F16 Fighter Jets from the US

As per reports, Pakistan has closed the chapter of seeking F16 fighter jets from the US and will now opt for Jordan-owned F16 jets.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, one of the reasons for strained relations with the US were Pakistan`s close ties with China.

Retail Inflation Rises in May

Retail inflation in May rose to 5.76 per cent on account of dearer food articles such as vegetables and pulses.
The retail inflation, measured on Consumer Price Index (CPI), in April was at 5.47 per cent.
The accelerated pace could put a pause on more rate cuts by the Reserve Bank.

Tata Buys Welspun Renewables Unit

Tata Power has agreed to acquire the renewable energy portfolio of the diversified Welspun Group for an enterprise value of Rs. 9,500 crore. The deal -biggest in the clean energy sector will make Tata Power the largest renewables player in India, the world's fastest growing green energy market.
The acquisition is in line with Tata Power's strategy to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and grow through renewables.

New Planet that Orbits Two Suns

NASA has discovered a new planet that is also the largest planet that orbits two suns.
As per scientists, the planet is too unobtrusive to be seen by the naked eye, but falls in the direction of the constellation Cygnus.
As per NASA, Kepler-1647 is 3,700 light years away and approximately 4.4 billion years old, roughly the same age as Earth. The stars are similar to the sun, with one slightly larger than our home star and the other slightly smaller. The planet has a mass and radius nearly identical to that of Jupiter, making it the largest transiting circumbinary planet ever found.

Anil Kumble India's Next Coach

Anil Kumble has emerged as one of the leading candidates to become India's next chief coach with a Board of Control for Cricket in India official confirming the 45-year-old's candidature for the top job.
Kumble is India's leading wicket taker in Test and One-Day International cricket.
He retired from international cricket in November 2008, and became the chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC)'s cricket committee in October 2012.
