Pakistan has formally applied for the membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group.
Pakistan's ambassador in Vienna applied for the membership through a letter addressed to the NSG chairman.
Pakistan has stressed the need for NSG to adopt a non-discriminatory criteria-based approach for NSG membership of the countries, which have never been party to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
US Rejects Russian Proposal for Joint Air Strikes
The United States rejected Russia’s proposal to launch joint air strikes against jihadists. Till now both the nations have been flying separate bombing campaigns in Syria.
As per Russia’s Defence Minister, adopting these measures will ensure the transition to a peace settlement process over all of Syria`s territory.
As per news from Pentagon, the US military does not collaborate or coordinate with the Russians on any operations in Syria.
As per reports from RBI, the foreign exchange of India dipped marginally by $980 million for the second consecutive week to reach $361 billion in the second week of May.

OVL Raises Foreign Loans
ONGC Videsh Ltd has taken a bridge loan of USD 1.2 billion from a group of foreign banks to fund its acquisition of 15 per cent stake in Russia's second biggest oil field of Vankor.
The banks which have given a nine-month loan to OVL are Citi, DBS, Mizuho, Standard Chartered and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.
After the Congress’ defeat in the just concluded Assembly polls, Assam's Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi tendered his resignation to Governor P. B. Acharya.
Gogoi has been to continue till the new government assumes office.
The Congress ruled the state for the last 15 years.
Heat Record Shattered
Phalodi, a small town in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, made history by registering the highest temperature of 51 degrees Celsius ever recorded in the country.
As per IMD, this is the highest ever temperature recorded in India.
The previous record was set in 1886 when the temperature soared to 50.6 degrees Celsius.
