As per UN Children’s Fund, due to the earthquake which measured 7.8 on the Richter scale more than 280 schools have been damaged by the earthquake that hit Ecuador, leaving at least 120,000 children temporarily without education.
UNICEF is supporting the government's efforts to get children back to learning.
UNICEF will install 50 temporary learning spaces for 20,000 children and distribute school supplies to benefit 60,000 children.
In the first disinvestment of current fiscal, the government will sell 11.36 per cent equity shares in electricity generator NHPC Ltd. at Rs 21.75 apiece to raise about Rs. 2,700 crore.
The sale of 125.76 crore shares will happen over two days.
The government holds 85.96 percent in NHPC and selling of over 125 crore shares or 11.36 percent stake would help it comply with the minimum public shareholding norm.
Pidilite Forms JV with Italian Company
Pidilite Industries, manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and construction chemicals, has formed an equal joint venture company, ‘Wood Coat’, with Industria Chimica Adriatica Spa of Italy.
Pidilite will have 50% of the shareholding in the JV company, the balance will be held by ICA and India-based distributor Pratik Mehta. ICA is a leading wood finish manufacturer based in Italy. Wood Coat is a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.
Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) is all set to merge with Congress. This move is seen as an attempt to arrest the ruling BJP's bid to expand its support base among non-Jats in the state.
Bisnoi met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to discuss the merger plan. The final approval by Sonia Gandhi is likely to come very soon.
The HJC was formed by Bhajan Lal after he parted ways with the Congress in 2007.
