Companies to Toe New Accounting Rules
Companies with a net-worth of Rs. 500 crore or more will have to follow the new Indian Accounting Standards.
The new standards are benchmarked to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The shift will make Indian corporate accounts comparable internationally.
This will lead companies to make wider disclosures on transactions and associated companies as well as provide explanations on various numbers in their books.
The rules will impact the way financial assets and liabilities are classified and many items that were off the balance sheet will have to be reported.

China has once again blocked India's bid at the UN to ban JeM chief Masood Azhar, the mastermind of the Pathankot terror attack.
After the attack on the IAF base, India had written to the UN calling for immediate action to list Azhar under the al-Qaida Sanctions Committee.
India’s submission was considered by the Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate for technical aspects of the evidence provided. The technical team then with the support of the US, UK and France had sent it to all the members.
But hours before the deadline, China requested the Committee to hold up the banning of the JeM chief.
The Chinese action was in consultation with Pakistan, which is not on the UN Committee.
