The United States will provide an additional $20 million (18 million euros) in aid for refugees in Europe.
This aid brings Washington`s total commitment to Europe`s migration crisis to $43.6 million since last year.
Most of the funds, $17.5 million, will be given to the UN refugee agency.
The rest of the funds will be shared out between the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the UN population fund.
As per a study, the disappearance of Arctic Sea ice due to massive climate change is causing the surface of Greenland\'s melt area to increase, thereby fuelling a steep rise in the sea-level.
The Greenland ice sheet holds an enormous volume of frozen water, and the global sea level would rise about 20 to 23 feet if it all melted. Surface melting of the ice sheet has increased dramatically since the relative stability and modest snow accumulation in the 1970s.
Drug major Dr. Reddy\'s Laboratories has entered into a US licensing pact with XenoPort for the development and commercialisation of latter\'s clinical-stage oral new chemical entity XP23829.
Dr. Reddy\'s Laboratories will pay an upfront fee of USD 50 million to XenoPort.
The agreement is subject to review by the US government under the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Antitrust Improvements Act, as amended, and will become effective only after clearing HSR review.
GVK Sells Stake in Bengaluru Airport
To reduce debt, Airport operator GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd has sold a 33 per cent stake in Bengaluru airport to Canada\'s Fairfax Financial Holdings.
GVK will receive $322.75 million from Fairfax for the stake.
The deal, likely to be completed by mid-2016, will help GVK reduce debt by 20 billion rupees and save up to 3 billion rupees a year in interest costs.
India has decided to adopt \'112\' as the national emergency number, similar to \'911\' in the US and \'999\' in the UK, with the inter-ministerial telecom commission giving a go-ahead to the move.
The existing emergency numbers like 100 (for police), 101 (fire), 102 (ambulance) and 108 (disaster management) will have a gradual phase-out, though they will continue to be in operation for at least a year.
First Woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir
PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, set to be the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, is likely to be sworn-in in the first week of April.
Mehbooba, will also have the distinction of being the first Muslim woman Chief Minister of the country, had met Governor N. N. Vohra and staked claim to form the government with the support 25 MLAs of the BJP.
