As per reports, around 100,000 Syrian refugees are being looked after in camps inside Syria close to the Turkish border.
Turkey has come under increasing pressure to open its border to people fleeing the violence.
The refugees are looked after by organisations such as Turkey's emergency agency AFAD, the pro-government aid group Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) as well as international organisations.
The United Nations and the European Union have urged Turkey to let in refugees fleeing the government onslaught.
But Turkey, already hosting 2.7 million Syrian refugees, has so far refused to let the new wave into the country, providing humanitarian assistance across the border.
Regular Fuel Distribution in Nepal
After more than five months of economic blockade and a resulting fuel crisis, the Nepal government commenced regular public distribution of petroleum products.
The Commerce and Supplies Minister scrapped the quota system for fuel distribution that had been introduced after blockading of the Nepal-India border by anti-Constitution protestors, which had led to a scarcity of essential commodities including food, fuel and medicines.
Remaining in the negative zone for the second month, industrial output in December shrank 1.3 percent while retail inflation in January edged up to a 16-month high.
Factory output continued to fall primarily because of a decline in production of capital goods and manufactured products, retail inflation rose as a result of costlier food items.
The decline in December IIP has been primarily on account of a massive drop in output of capital goods.
Coke Stops Manufacturing at Three Plants
US beverage giant Coca-Cola's bottler Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages HCCB) has stopped manufacturing operations in three of its plants located in Jaipur, Vishakhapatnam and Meghalaya.
As per Coca-Cola India, the move is temporary, but as per industry insiders it is a result of excess capacity and slowing down of sales. The company will try to accommodate the affected workers somewhere else.
HCCB operates around 54 plants in India -25 are company-owned, 24 are franchisee plants and five are copackers.
IDBI Reports Largest Quarterly Loss
IDBI Bank reported a loss of Rs. 2,184 crore for the December quarter, making it the largest-ever quarterly loss by an Indian bank and casting a shadow over the government's plan to divest up to 26% stake to strategic investors.
As per reports, it is time has come to say good bye to the Philae lander, which touched down on the surface of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko in November 2014.
The robotic lander has not called home since its last call to mothership Rosetta seven months ago.
The lander is facing conditions on the comet from which it is unlikely to recover.
