India's External Debt Rises
India's external debt edged up by 1.7 per cent during the first six months of the ongoing fiscal to USD 483.2 billion at the September-end.
As per the Finance Ministry the rise in external debt during the period was due to long-term external debt particularly commercial borrowings and NRI deposits.
RBI Fixes 9.45 % Base Rate for NBFC-MFIs
In line with falling lending rates, Reserve Bank of India fixed base rate or the minimum lending rate at 9.45 percent for NBFC Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs).
Base rate is the minimum lending rate below which an MFI cannot lend.

Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan TCA Raghavan crossed over from the Wagah border to return to India after serving over two years as India's envoy in Islamabad.
He was appointed High Commissioner to Pakistan in June 2013.
Raghavan in his long career has also served as Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad from 2003 to 2007. He worked on diplomatic assignments in the UK, Bhutan and Kuwait since he joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1982.
He is being replaced by Gautam Bombawale who is currently serving as ambassador to Bhutan.
