Tata and Boeing Join Hands

  • Tata Advanced Systems and American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has established a joint venture to build aero-components in India. The joint venture will initially produce fuselages for the AH-64 Apache helicopter. In future, the two companies intend to strengthen the partnership by exploring integrated systems development opportunities.
  • Boeing has been sourcing aero-components from India but the deal with Tata Advanced Systems will see the US company manufacturing those in the country.

India's Satellite GSAT-15 Launched Successfully

  • GSAT-15, India's latest communications satellite, was launched successfully by the European Ariane 5 VA-227 launch Vehicle.
  • The 3164 kg GSAT-15 carries communication transponders in Ku-band and a GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) payload operating in L1 and L5 bands.

Defence Minister Commissioned Samarth

  • Largest Coast Guard offshore patrol vessel, Samarth, was commissioned by Defence Minister.
  • The ship is equipped with sophisticated technology, sensors, navigation, communication and weapon systems. Samarth is first in the series of six 105m offshore patrol vessels and has been built by Goa Shipyard.
