China`s foreign exchange reserves, the world`s largest, shrank by $93.9 billion in August, the biggest monthly fall on record, reflecting the scale of intervention by the central bank to support the yuan after a surprise devaluation last month.
As per the People`s Bank of China, reserves dropped to $3.557 trillion, having descended from a record $3.99 trillion in June 2014.
As per reports, the first ever leopard census in India, carried out alongside the tiger census last year, has put the population of the species at 7910 in and around tiger habitats.
There are leopards outside the areas covered. Based on these numbers, the estimated total leopard population in India is in the range of 12,000 to 14,000.
The study found the species well distributed across the country, indicating that India's leopard population is quite healthy.
The Maharashtra government has decided to abolish the Local Body Tax (LBT) within 15 days on petrol and diesel to end the disparity between fuel dealers and other traders.
But the government will impose an alternate tax in place of LBT.
The state government has already exempted traders having an annual turnover below Rs 50 crore from paying LBT across the state from August 1.
Reliance Defence Sign Pact with ADSB
Anil Ambani-led Reliance Defence Ltd. has signed a MoU with Abu Dhabi Ship Building to set up a strategic partnership for construction of naval ships, including frigates and destroyers to address the demands of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), over the next 10 years.
RDL is a fully owned subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd while Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) is a leading provider of construction, repair and refit services for naval, military and commercial vessels.
Reliance Group is likely to use its newly acquired ship-building facilities at Pipavav for implementation of this collaboration.
