Cuba has given the go-ahead to five more foreign companies to set up operations in the Mariel Special Development Zone.
Till date six companies have been approved, five of them with 100 percent foreign capital.
The approved companies operate in agribusiness, light industry, electronics, chemicals and transportation.
As peer reports, Cuba has received more than 300 applications to invest in the ZEDM from companies based in Spain, Italy, China, Russia, France, Vietnam, Brazil, Mexico, the Netherlands and Canada.

For the first time in India, the concept of shared parenting has been proposed to give joint custody rights of a child to both parents in case of divorce -equal legal status with respect to guardianship and custody.
The Law Commission on Friday submitted a draft law to the government proposing amendments to the existing guardianship and custody laws. The draft law provides for welfare of children as paramount consideration while deciding custody.
It also proposes statutory guidelines on determining child welfare rights in cases of joint custody.
