GATE 2016 Notification, Exam Date & How to Apply

The official notification of GATE 2016 has been released now, and this time IISc (Indian Institute of Science), Bangalore is going to conduct Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The online registrations will starts from 1st September, 2015 and the last date of filling online forms is 1st October. Candidates who are willing to apply for GATE 2016 can download the detailed brochure from the official website (www.gate.iisc.ernet.in) and apply online.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India level entrance exam jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven IIT's (Delhi, Bombay, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee and Madras) to select candidates for admission into the IIT's and IIS's. The GATE score is also used by several public sector undertakings and private companies for screening candidates for employment purposes.
New in GATE 2016 Exam:
• An online virtual calculator will be available to examinees at the time of examination.
• A new paper Petroleum Engineering (PE) is introduced in GATE 2016. With this, the total number of papers is 23.
Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2016:
Qualifying Degree Qualifying Degree/Examination (Descriptive) Description of Eligible Candidates Year of Qualification cannot be later than
B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm. Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/ Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after Diploma in Engineering/Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programs. Currently in the final year or already completed 2016
B.Arch. Bachelor's degree holders of Architecture (Five-year course) Currently in the final year or already completed 2016
B.Sc. (Research)/B.S. Bachelor's degree in Science (Post-Diploma/4 years after 10+2) Currently in the 4th year or already completed 2016
M.Sc. /M.A./M.C.A. or equivalent Master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent Currently in the final year or already completed 2016
Int. M.E./M.Tech. (Post-B.Sc.) Post-B.Sc. Integrated Master's degree programs in Engineering / Technology (Four-year program) Currently in the 2nd/3rd/4th year or already completed 2018
Int. M.E./ M.Tech. or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2) Integrated Master's degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology (Five-year program) Currently in the 4th/5th year or already completed 2017
Int. M.Sc/Int. B.S.-M.S. Integrated M.Sc. or Five-year integrated B.S.-M.S. program Currently in the final year or already completed 2016
Professional Society Examinations (equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch.) B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognised by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India) Completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses NA

How to Apply:
1. Visit www.appsgate.iisc.ernet.in.
2. Fill the required details to register.
3. Apply for the examination online.
4. Upload photograph, signature and other required documents.
5. Pay the application fee.
6. Check the status of your application.
7. Contact the zonal GATE Office in case of any queries/problems.
8. Download Admit Card (17th December, 2015 onwards)
