Why does the advisor say this?

 
He wants the student to sit and maintain a state of calm.
He suggests that there are options available to her.
He tries to calm her down because she is very angry.
He reassures her that there are solutions to her problem.

But, the meaning of the prof's statement is simply to calm the student. Question specifically asks for te meaning of that sentence along and not the whole recording

Why is the answer 4? At the point, where the professor said his statement to her, I can't think of a situation that he will provide me with some solution for my problem. Perhaps, he just wants me to be calm before getting me to turn back?
