Independent Writing

Some people like to do only what they already do well. Other people prefer to try new things and take risks. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.


Some people love to take risks without knowing about the consequences but some people love to do the work with which they feel comfortable or have a good experience in doing it. I prefer to take risks in life and love to try new things. There are few reasons for why I agree with this.

First, when we try new things we learn a lot. In my case, I never read a newspaper few years ago. It seemed very boring especially editorial parts but to prepare for various examinations I need to keep up with current affairs. So, I decided to read newspapers and now I am a regular reader of it. It becomes one of my habits now. I have learnt innumerable things from newspaper for instance, it increase my vocabulary, improve my English reading and writing skills and the most important thing that it keeps me up to date with current affairs.

Second, if you take risks in your life by doing new things, it will boost up your confidence for sure. You can handle any situation without any problem. In my case, when I started to read newspaper it galvanized me to talk to people and give me strength to talk about distinct topics with group of people which was earlier kind of surreal for me. When I converse with people, it helps me to know about my strength and my weakness. Now I have generate an ability in myself to make new friends.

In brief, if you do not try new things in your life or do not take any risks then your life becomes stagnant and boring. Instead of doing things which you already do well, go for something new which is exciting and full of surprises.

Surbhi, excellent, but I think you could expand your conclusion just a little bit. You should summarize your points in the conclusion. However, despite this, this is a great essay, top score for this one.
