TOEFL student Harlov RLW task Describe the past and present uses of Geothermal energy and how is it better potential then others. The topic Of discussion is about the Geothermal energy in the Biology class. The writer gives the phenomena for the formation of this energy and how it reaches the surface of earth. Whereas the speaker gives the detailed description of the past and present uses of this form of energy. The use of Geothermal energy has been in different ways and its use does not cause any kind of harmfull effect on environment unlike the fossil fuels. In the past the American used it for cleansing, healing and even for bathing. The europeans also used this energy for different healing processes, for example Romans used it for healing eyes and skin diseases. On the other hand the present use has been much more different and effective then the past. In present this form of energy is being used as a power source. The hot water springs are used in different forms like Steam,Heat and Hot Water. The use of steam is by moving the turbines that generate electricity which has been the most easisest way of producing electricity without any kind of drawbacks. The other use is of hot water, which is being used in direct way for industries and it can also be used in green house and for the preperation of mineral water.The Geothermal energy is also used in heating the houses in iceland as this region is active for this energy. The other thing is the use of this energy is safest for us as there is no pollution caused by it and it is economical. For the use of such energy one need not to spend lot of money and there is no special equipments required for using it. When itis being used there are no harmful emissions either.

Harlov, this is a good attempt. You have gotten some information wrong such as you stated the Americans, but the term would have been Native American. I do like your usage of the Romans for your example. I think you spent a bit too much time in your introduction, whereas it could have been briefer. There are a number of grammatical errors and errors of usage. I suggest you work with the tests on the website which have to do with grammar and sentence structure.
