In elevators the cables raise and lower the elevator car are run over a pulley to other end to balance a car.when car goes up counter weights come down,if mass of elevator is 1000kg is exactly equal to counter weight what is work done when elevator is at height of 40m?

Work done is 40000nm^-1

because work is equal to weight multiplied by distance the weight is carried
