The 13th edition of two week long joint military exercise 'Ekuverin' between the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force commenced in Maldives.
Ekuverin meaning 'Friends' in Dhivehi language is a bilateral annual exercise conducted alternatively in India and Maldives. In 2023, it was conducted at Chaubatia in Uttarakhand in June.
The 14-day exercise, which concludes on February 15 is aimed at enhancing interoperability in counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations, and carry out joint humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

Vibrant Village Programme
For the first time, Indo-Tibetan Border Police entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh governments for giving employment and livelihood opportunities to locals living along the India-China border. The plan conceived under the vibrant village programme (VVP) has so far covered 51 vibrant villages and 108 border villages for supplying vegetarian and non-vegetarian items worth Rs. 1 crore.

A 1992-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Rajesh Nirwan brings a wealth of experience in law enforcement and security management. His career began with his posting as Superintendent of Police (SP), CID (CB), Jaipur. Over the years, he has served as the police chief in several districts, including Jhalawar, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, and Kota, where he gained extensive experience in handling complex law and order situations.

Vice Admiral Swaminathan was commissioned in Indian Navy in 1987. He is a post-graduate from IIT, Kharagpur. In a career spanning more than 37 years, he has worked onboard the Aircraft Carrier, INS Viraat, for more than nine years in various capacities.
