Muraleedharan Attendd Lanka's Independence Day Celebrations
State Minister for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan represented India at Sri Lanka's 75th Independence Day celebrations held on February 4 and hold bilateral interactions with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Foreign Minister Ali Sabry.
Along with Muraleedharan, several other foreign dignitaries, including the head of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland attended the main event in the capital, Colombo.
Cooperation Ministry Signs MoU to Enable Primary Agricultural Credit Societies
The Ministry of Cooperation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, NABARD and CSC e-Governance Services India Limited to enable Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to provide services offered by Common Service Centers.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah and Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav.
PACS are the soul of cooperatives and making them multipurpose as providers of about 20 services will increase employment opportunities in rural areas.
This agreement is a win-win situation for all. It will not only help in fulfilling Prime Minister's dream of 'Sahkar Se Samridhi' and making cooperatives the backbone of rural development, but it will also strengthen both cooperatives and farmers.

RBI Okays Appointment of Sitting YES Bank Executive Rajan Pental as ED
The Reserve Bank of India approved the appointment of Rajan Pental as an Executive Director of YES Bank for three years.
Pental, who has been with YES Bank since November 2015, will continue to head retail banking. His portfolio includes branch banking – retail, affluent banking, retail assets and SME banking. He is also designated as a non-executive director of YES Securities.
Azad Engineering is India's First Supplier of Parts for Nuclear Turbines
Azad Engineering Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based market leader in precision engineering, was approved as the first Indian company to supply critical rotating parts for nuclear turbines.
The company delivered its first set of critical parts. These will now be assembled on nuclear turbines manufactured in Belfort, France.
Azad Engineering signed a long-term supply agreement with General Electric (GE) Steam Power for the supply of nuclear turbine parts. This, the company said, opens up a very big supply opportunity.
MP Government Changes the Name of Bhopal's Islam Nagar Village to 'Jagdishpur'
The Madhya Pradesh government announced that Islam Nagar village, situated in the Bhopal district, was renamed as Jagdishpur. The MP administration, in an official release, declared the changes and mentioned the change in the name with immediate effect.
According to several accounts, the name of Islam Nagar used to be Jagdishpur 308 years ago.
Bhoapl's Islam Nagar (now Jagdishpur) is famous for its fort and is a place of tourist interest.
I n February 2021, the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government had renamed Hoshangabad as Narmadapuram and Nasrullahganj was renamed as Bhairunda.
India Welcomes Congo into International Solar Alliance
India welcomed Congo to International Solar Alliance. Ambassador of Republic of Congo, Raymond Serge Bale signed the International Solar Alliance Framework Agreement in the presence of Joint Secretary (Economic Diplomacy).
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an action-oriented, member-driven, collaborative platform for increased deployment of solar energy technologies. Its basic motive is to facilitate energy access, ensure energy security, and drive energy transition in its member countries. The ISA was conceived as a joint effort by India and France to mobilize efforts against climate change through deployment of solar energy solutions.
A total of 107 countries have signed the ISA Framework Agreement.
Out of 107 nations, 86 have signed and ratified the ISA Framework Agreement.
IIT Madras Collaborates with Cargill to Provide Scholarships for BS Degree
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras students will now be able to get a full scholarship to pursue BS in Data Science Applications. The scholarship was launched in partnership with Cargill, a US-global food and agriculture corporation.
The Cargill Scholarship will allow approximately 100 students from low-income families to pursue their ambition of attending IIT Madras.
The IIT Madras BS Degree in Data Science and Applications is a one-of-a-kind programme that provides students with several entrance and exit choices, allowing them to exit with a certificate, diploma, or degree. This programme includes four levels, and a student must successfully finish all four levels to get the BS Degree in Data Science and Applications degree.
Five New Judges will be Appointed Soon, Centre Tells Supreme Court
The Union Government told the Supreme Court that five new judges, recommended by the collegium, would be appointed soon. Last month, the collegium recommended the names of three High Court Chief Justices and two judges for elevation to the apex court.
Attorney General R. Venkataramani told a bench of Justices S. K. Kaul and A.S. Oka that the warrant for appointment of these five names is expected to be issued soon.
