Rajapaksa Challenged in Court

As many as 122 Sri Lankan lawmakers challenged former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the court of appeal, asking on whose authority he occupied the office of the Prime Minister, after being voted out in the legislature.
The case is likely to be heard early next week.
The MPs, who filed the Quo Warranto petition challenging Mr. Rajapaksa, his purported Cabinet and government, earlier disputed his controversial appointment as Prime Minister in the legislature. 
Mr. Rajapaksa had been voted out in the 225-member House in two no-confidence motions last week, which his supporters have rejected, citing "breach of parliamentary procedure".

US and China Trade War

According to Wang Shouwen, Vice Minister of Commerce, China hopes U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese premier Xi Jinping will find a solution to the continuing trade war when they meet at the G20 summit next week.

Mahindra First Choice Services to Raise Funds

Mahindra First Choice Services (MFC), part of the $20.7 billion Mahindra group, is open to talks with strategic investors to raise Rs. 125 crore. 
The funds are needed to accelerate expansion programme and will be invested in technology and brand building.
The firm was not in a hurry to raise resources and that it may sew up the deal in the next 6-12 months. 

Ranjan Quits Jet Board

Ranjan Mathai has resigned as Independent Director of Jet Airways board with immediate effect.
Mr. Mathai resigned due to increasing pressure on his time from other commitments and consequent inability to devote the time required to discharge his obligations. 

Continental Adds 2 Lines

Technology firm Continental has added two new production lines at its Gurugram plant to assemble anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) components.
This rise in capacity is meant to address the market requirements stemming from government legislation for ABS for passenger cars and two-wheelers by April 2019. The company has been steadily investing in India to localise ABS and ESC. In 2016, it set up a line for ABS assembly, in addition to ESC systems, in Gurugram.

UST Global Opens Global Delivery Centre

Tech major UST Global has set up a new delivery centre in Hyderabad. The key focus of the centre is to support the company's global banking, financial and insurance services, healthcare, retail, technology, media, and telecom and semiconductor clients. 
As per Global CAO and country head Alexander Varghese, Hyderabad is a key market for them with existing portfolio of clients, vast business opportunities and promising talent. 

Highest Paying City

As per a study by Professional social network site LinkedIn, Bengaluru emerged as the highest paying region, followed by the country's commercial capital Mumbai and NCR.
LinkedIn has launched the "LinkedIn Salary" feature  that provides a detailed breakdown of salaries by job title and location.
The top five highest paid regions are Bengaluru, Mumbai, National Capital Region (includes New Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida), Hyderabad and Chennai.
The study found that the highest paid industries are Hardware and Networking, Software and IT Services, Consumer Goods, Health Care, Finance, Corporate Services, Construction, Manufacturing, Real Estate and Media & Communications.

RTI Request Denied

The Centre has denied a Right to Information (RTI) request for a copy of the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill 2018, which had been notified for introduction in the monsoon session of Parliament.
The Bill sought to give the Centre power to set the tenure and salaries of State and Central Information Commissioners. Critics worry this could threaten the independence of Commissioners. An RTI request for details on the applicants and search committee set up to fill the vacancies on the Central Information Commission (CIC) has also been denied. The CIC is the final appellate authority for all Central public authorities. By December 1, there will be eight vacancies in the 11-member Commission. 

Delhi's New Chief Secretary

Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Dev has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary in the Delhi government.
Mr. Dev, a 1987-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, takes over from Anshu Prakash, a 1986-batch officer of the same cadre.
Mr. Prakash had taken over as Delhi Chief Secretary on December 4, 2017.

Constitution Will Be Available in Braille

The Constitution will be made available in Braille for the first time ahead of the Constitution Day on November 26.
In a joint project undertaken by The Buddhist Association for the Blind along with Saavi Foundation and Swagat Thorat, who started India's first Braille newsletter 'Sparshdnyan' , the Constitution will be made available in five parts in Braille for the benefit of visually challenged individuals.
