With less than 20 days left for CAT 2015, and several major changes now revealed for the exam, itís high time you take your preparation to top gear. The changes made will impact the exam taking strategy and final preparation schedule.

Changes made in CAT 2015

Section Components
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension 24 Reading Comprehension Questions; 10 Non-MCQ Questions
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning 8 Non-MCQ Questions; 24 MCQ Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning Blocks
Quantitative Ability 10 Non-MCQ Questions; 24 MCQ Questions

With more weight-age given to Reading Comprehension in Verbal Ability section and Non-MCQ questions in all the three sections, the strategy for the exam needs to be reworked. Devising a strategy is important since it helps you get clear idea of what you have to do and how you have to proceed.

Take Full Length Mocks: You must have been taking several CAT Mock Tests by now. Along with strategy building through the mock tests, you should have the patience to concentrate for 3 hours. Mock tests will be the key to your success.

Analyze the Mock Tests: After attempting mock tests, a proper analysis should be done for all the three sections individually. Since there is no option to switch between sections, the strategy will be section specific. In sectional analysis, mark the correct attempts, wrong attempts and un-attempted questions. This way you will be able to pinpoint areas you have to work upon in the remaining days and the areas you wonít be attempting in the exam.

Develop a Strategy: Use the analysis of mock tests to develop exam taking strategy. It is best to start with your strength areas in the specific section. This will not only ensure a smooth start but will also boost your confidence. This way you will be able to maximize your score in the given time limit for each section.

Follow these pointers and be on your way to ace the CAT.
