Suzlon to set up learning centres in India, abroad
AHMEDABAD: After emerging as one of the leading players in wind energy, Suzlon Energy is planning to set up three knowledge centres for research and development, product development and innovations in renewable energy. These centres will come up in India and Germany.
“For the next five years, we are not going to shift our focus from wind energy. But we certainly have a vision to develop solutions in the field of solar energy and bio-fuels. The proposed knowledge centres would train engineers for future for Suzlon as well as world that is facing global warming,” Suzlon chairman Tulsi Tanti told ET on the sidelines of the Nirma University’s fourth convocation on Saturday.

Motorola appoints Rajiv Mehta as VP Sales for India
NEW DELHI: Global handset maker Motorola on Tuesday appointed Rajiv M Mehta as Vice President (Sales) for India and South West Asia.
Mehta would be based in New Delhi and spearhead the sales team for the mobile devices business, a company statement said here.
"As we continue to strengthen our India and South West Asia presence, Mehta would focus on driving a profitable growth strategy for the mobile devices business," Motorola Vice President and General Manager (India and South West Asia) Malcolm Dawe said.

Iffco Tokio appoints S Narayanan as Managing Director
NEW DELHI: Private sector general insurance company Iffco Tokio General Insurance on Wednesday appointed S Narayanan as Managing Director.
Prior to this appointment, Narayanan was Executive Vice- President for the past six years and succeeds Ajit Narain, Iffco-Tokio said in a release.
IRDA has accorded necessary approvals for the above appointments, which came into effect from November 1, it said.

Samir Barua becomes new IIMA director
AHMEDABAD: Professor Samir Kumar Barua has been appointed as the new director of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIMA) this afternoon, official sources said here.
Professor Barua has assumed the charge of director after Dr Bakul stepped down on October 10 on completion of his five-year term.
Barua has been on the faculty of IIMA since 1980.

TCS, Infy among world's top-20 FinTech list
NEW YORK: Four Indian companies, including two of the country's biggest IT firms, TCS and Infosys, have been named among the world's 100 biggest technology providers to the global financial services industry. Tata Consultancy Services has also emerged as the first Indian firm to be named among the top 10 in the annual FinTech 100 list of financial industry technology vendors that was released here.
Besides TCS and Infosys, I-Flex Solutions and Patni Computer Services have been named in the list. TCS moved up three positions from 13th last year to be ranked as 10th biggest technology vendor in 2007. Infosys also moved up four positions to 14th this year. TCS launches new solutions for airlines
