GATE 2013 Notification, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2013 Exam Dates

 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay has announced the exam dates for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2013 which will be conducted in the month of January and February 2013. The eligible candidates can apply through ONLINE Mode.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.

GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

(*) The score is used for taking admissions in various post-graduate programmes (eg. M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and other Government agencies.
The score may also be used by Public sector units like ONGC, NTPC, ISRO, BHEL, BARC, DRDO, DVC, Power-grid, IOCL, etc for employment screening purposes.

GATE 2013 Offline Examination for Papers (CS, ME and PI) 10th February, 2013 (09:00 Hrs to 12:00 Hrs) Sunday

Eligibility Criteria:
B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post-Diploma)
M.Sc/M.A./MCA: Master’s degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics / Statistics/Computer applications or equivalent
Int M.E./M.Tech or Dual Degree (after 10+2 or Diploma): Integrated Master’s degree programs or dual degree programs in Engineering/Technology (five year programme)
Int M.E./M.Tech (Post B.Sc): Post-B.Sc Integrated Master’s degree programs in Engineering/ Technology (four year programme)
Professional Society Examinations (equivalent to B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch): B.E./B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India)

GATE score will be computed by a new formula:

where, S = GATE Score (normalized) of a candidate,
M = Marks obtained by a candidate in a paper,
Mq = Qualifying marks for general category candidates in the paper,
Mt = Average Marks of top 0.1% or 10 (whichever is higher) of candidates in the paper,
St = GATE Score assigned to Mt (around 900), and
Sq = GATE Score assigned to Mq (around 300).
Mq is usually 25 marks (out of 100) or μ+σ, whichever is higher. Here μ is the mean of marks in a paper and σ is the standard deviation.

Validity for GATE Score Card: GATE 2013 score is valid for TWO YEARS from the date of announcement of the results.

For General/OBC-NC (Male Candidates) Rs.1200/-
SC/ST/PD (Male Candidates) Rs.600/-
Female Candidates NIL

Modes of Payment: Netbanking, Canara Bank Challan & State Bank of India Challan.
