Eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must have passed with minimum 50% marks in average of all subjects in Class 10.Candidates must have passed with minimum 50% in average of all subjects in Class 12. The candidates must have passed in Mathematics / Computer Science / Information Practices as one of the subject in Class 12.
- Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling [Class 12 or equivalent] (10+2+3 system).
- Candidates must have one of following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), or
- B.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics, or
- B.Sc. with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at graduate level.
- Candidates of B.Sc. Honours must have minimum 50% marks in average in their Honours subject. Candidates of BCA and other graduate courses must have minimum 50% marks in average in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared.
- Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s program in 2013 can also apply, provided they have obtained requisite marks or equivalent based on latest available grades / marks at the time of applying, and if selected can join the program provisionally. At the time of the document verification cum admission such an applicant must bring a certificate in original from the Principal of Institute stating that:
- By 30 June 2013, the candidate will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining his/her Bachelor’s degree.
- The candidate has obtained requisite marks or equivalent, based on latest available grades / marks.
Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification with requisite marks as per item (5) above. They must submit proof of passing their final examinations with requisite marks by 31 October 2013. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.
- Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programs are eligible only if (a) the programs are recognized by the DEC-IGNOU, (b) they have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum 50% marks in average. They must enclose photocopies of pass certificate and mark sheets of qualifying examination with their application.

How to Apply:
The MCA Information Brochure 2013 - covers admissions to the 3-year (6-semester) full-time MCA program 2013 offered at the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, and it’s other Campuses at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur and Noida. The program will commence in July 2013.
To apply for the MCA program 2013, eligible candidates must complete and submit the online application form on the official website.

- Send a printout of the completed form along with
- Two recent colour photographs (one pasted on the form and one attached by clip to the form)
- Photocopies of all mark sheets and certificates (see List of Enclosures)
- Requisite crossed demand draft in favour of ‘Birla Institute of Technology’, payable at Ranchi.
- Send in a A4 size envelope by Speed post / reliable courier to the office of Dean, Admission & Academic Coordination, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi – 835215, to reach positively by the due date.
- Write “Application for MCA 2013 on top of the envelope”.
- Applications reaching us after the due date are liable to be rejected / may not be processed.

Exam Pattern:
The MCA 2013 Online Entrance Test shall comprise of 120 questions to be answered in 2 hours. Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices out of which only one is correct. A candidate must select only the correct answer to score full marks. For each correct answer, a candidate will earn 4 marks. For every incorrect answer, one mark will be deducted. If a question has not been attempted, no credit will be given. The questions will be distributed into various areas as follows and the detailed syllabus is given below:

- Registration numbers [different from Form / Application numbers] will be allotted to all eligible candidates called for MCA 2013 Online Entrance Test and the same will be mentioned on their Admit Cards.
- Candidates must make a note of their registration numbers carefully, as the same will be required at the time of online entrance test / document verification cum Admission.
- No individual intimation will be sent to candidates.

Download Admit Card:
Admit card will be available on the Institute website after 10 May 2013. Candidate has to enter his/her Name, Form No. and Date of Birth to download his/her admit card.
