What is the purpose of the passage?

 
To draw a comparison between hunger and worship
To prove that motivation to worship is instilled in people by truth
To persuade us to believe that religious congregations are attended by awakened people
To showcase worship as a propelling force of the human soul
To criticise the inclination of people towards recreation instead of congregation

" If the believer’s soul is spiritually awakened he would actively seek religious congregations", here it is shown as a propelling force. Ans 4 should be right whereas, "An impulse is not near equivalent to self enlightenment", which is a gradual process.

Why does the author use the word luckily in mentioning that the Ambulocetus natans fossil included hind legs? (Paragraph 5)

 
Fossil legs of early whales are a rare find.
The legs provided important information about the evolution of cetaceans.
The discovery allowed scientists to reconstruct a complete skeleton of the whale.
Until that time, only the front legs of early whales had been discovered.
