Sclerenchyma is a supporting tissue. Two groups of sclerenchyma cells exist: fibres and sclereids. Their walls consist of cellulose and lignin. Sclerenchyma cells are the principal supporting cells in plant tissues that have ceased elongation.

Parenchyma:the most important function of the parenchyma cells of roots and stem is the storage of food (e.g. starch) and water,

Collenchyma: provide support for the plant body

Chlorenchyma:Chlorenchyma cells are actually parenchyma cells, but they contain chloroplasts.

Xylem: involved in conduct of water and ions in the plant. They are of two types - tracheids and vessels

Phloem:Involved in transport of sucrose, other organic compounds, and some ions.Their are two types : companion cells and sieve tube members.
