Instead of 8.8 the C.S.A of the cylinder would be 88 and as a result the answer would be 4400 m sq. and not 440 m sq. , fourth option.

Hello Prabhakar, it's not diameter of base that is given to us, it is the area of base which we have. Hence, we don't have to deal with radii here and area of base = 900 cm^2 is correct.
