Ans = 46%.Let D be the difference in the electro negativities. The % ionic character is given by the following formula. % ionic character = 16*D+3.5*D*D

Luckshay bhatia asks : In cathode ray tube experiment, when fast moving electrons from cathode strikes on hydrogn molecules they split them into hydrogen atoms. But I am not able to understand how fast moving electrons are able to split the hydrogen molecules into atoms as atoms are hydrogen atoms and molecules are mostly empty.I want to say that there is very less probability of electrons to strike hydrogen molecule.

Shiv kumar singh asks : molecular orbital theory (MO theory) is a method for determining molecular structure in which electrons are not assigned to individual bonds between atoms, but are treated as moving under the influence of the nuclei in the whole molecule. In this theory, each molecule has a set of molecular orbitals, in which it is assumed that the molecular orbital wave function ψf may be written as a simple weighted sum of the n constituent atomic orbitals χi.Molecular orbital (MO) theory uses a linear combination of atomic orbitals to form molecular orbitals which cover the whole molecule. These are often divided into bonding orbitals, anti-bonding orbitals, and non-bonding orbitals.
