Kerala is the most literate state in India, with 94.59% literacy, followed closely by Mizoram at 88.80%. Bihar is the least literate state in India with 47% literacy. Ernakulam district in Kerala was the first district to reach the 100% literacy level in India.
kottayam is the first town to have attained 100 percent literacy .Kottyam was also the first town in India which was chosen by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India to be transformed as an Eco City.
