In cathode ray tube experiment, when fast moving electrons from cathode strikes on hydrogn molecules they split them into hydrogen atoms. But I am not able to understand how fast moving electrons are able to split the hydrogen molecules into atoms as atoms are hydrogen atoms and molecules are mostly empty.I want to say that there is very less probability of electrons to strike hydrogen molecule.
